  1. I just bought by first Cricut! My family is always making cakes for different occasions. I guess it could be considered a small business. We made our first cake with the Cricut Cake..It was AMAZING! Im 18 years old and dont like wasting time reading directions when im really excited. To everyone who says its hard to get this machine to work, please explain to me how it is so difficult! Its pretty self explanatory. Ill read the directions before I use my machine again. Just so i dont make any silly errors or break anything.

    Cricut Cake..my new love!!

  2. This machine is the best invention ever for cake decorators. Of course it takes some time to get used to and also figure out what materials to use but i find Gum Paste to be the best with this machine. There are so many shapes, letters, etc that you can get from this machine and will take so much time away from cutting gum paste or fondant to make those decorations.

    I recommend it.

This is my first cricut machine ever. But I have been working with fondant/gumpaste for quite a time now. As other people have commented, it has a learning curve, but so does decorating cakes. One cann’t expect to decorate a wedding cake just by purchasig tips and decorating bags.

The instructions need to be improved, but you have to practice at it. It is a great investment for a business, saves me a lot of time making beautiful cuts I would have to make by hand.

  4. As a cake decorator, I love the new choices I have with this. I was a bit frustrated at first with the cuts bunching up, but after reading the brochure at Michael’s Crafts about freezing your mats with the gumpaste on it before putting it in the machine for cutting, my cuts are much cleaner. I give it 4 stars because it is really good for larger cuts but smaller cuts give you some grief no matter what. Also, I wish the lettering was on the keypad, but you have to look at the book to see which key corresponds to the letter, but after awhile I realized the letters are set up just like a keyboard, but still wish they were on the keypad. Also, each letter takes awhile to come up on the display, I like to move quickly, and this seems to take forever sometimes. I bought the gypsy for it, so hopefully that will help.

  5. Needless to say, this was a huge splurge for me. I was so incredibly excited to get the cricut cake and intoxicated by all the cool things this machine promised. However, it has not worked. I’ve spent hours trying to get it to cut a simple design but haven’t had much luck. I’ve followed the directions exactly and tried all the tips that other users have suggested online. Even on the lowest tension, the blade cut my mat. I don’t know what the learning curve on this thing is but I have a FT job and a family and can’t devote weeks on figuring this out. In my opinion, the instructions are grossly defective. I’m going to give it one more shot and if it doesn’t work, it’s going back.
